Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 15, 2026
HEIC Quick (heicquick.com) is designed around one simple principle: your files are yours, and they never leave your device. This page explains in plain English what we do and don't collect.
Your photos are never uploaded
When you convert a HEIC image on this site, the conversion happens entirely inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your photo is never sent to our servers, never stored anywhere, and never seen by us or anyone else. You could disconnect from the internet after loading the page and conversion would still work.
We have no database of user files. We have no ability to access, recover, or look at anything you convert. This is true for every image, regardless of size or quantity.
What we do collect
We collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- A global conversion counter. Each time a conversion succeeds on any visitor's device, our site sends a small message to our server that says "one more conversion happened" โ with no identifying information, no file content, and no user data. This is used only to display the total "photos converted" number on the homepage as social proof. It is not linked to individual users in any way.
- Basic, privacy-friendly web analytics. Like most websites, we use a privacy-focused analytics tool (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views and understand which pages are popular. This tool does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personally identifiable information. No sign-up or cookie banner is required.
- Your email address, only if you give it to us. If you choose to sign up for our "Notify me about new features" email list, we collect the email you enter into the form. This is handled by Buttondown, an independent email newsletter service. You can unsubscribe at any time from the footer of any email we send. We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone else.
Cookies
This site uses a very small amount of browser storage (localStorage) for strictly functional
purposes: remembering your language preference and whether you dismissed the language-suggestion banner.
This is not a tracking cookie โ it never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to any server. No
third-party tracking cookies are set by this site directly.
Third parties
Our site loads a few external resources to make the converter work:
- jsDelivr CDN โ we load the HEIC decoding library and the ZIP library from this content delivery network. Your browser makes a request to jsDelivr when the page loads, which they may log according to their own policies.
- Cloudflare โ our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as our web host and may process standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request time) for a short period for security and reliability purposes. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Buttondown โ if you subscribe to our email list, Buttondown processes your email on our behalf. See the Buttondown privacy policy.
Advertising
This site may display ads to cover hosting costs. When ads are shown, ad networks (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies to deliver and measure those ads. This section will be updated with specifics if and when advertising is enabled, including instructions for how to opt out.
Your rights
Because we store almost no personal data, there is very little for us to show, export, or delete on your behalf. If you have subscribed to our email list, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us. If you have any privacy question or concern, you can reach out via the project's GitHub page.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes substantively, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and significant updates will be noted on the homepage for a reasonable period.
